It's oh so quiet!
Hi all,
I've been away from here for a bit, bogged under and all. It looks like everyone else is in the same situation!
I was thinking it might be good for everyone to post a bit about what they're up to at the moment - maybe encourage a bit of conversation if nothing else?
Are there any projects you're working on that you want feedback on? Any ideas that you need to collaborate on? Is the state of the world/economy/reality tv driving you to despair?
Personally, I seem to be diversifying into legacy systems integration to RIA applications, but with a focus on Python/Pylons for the web side of things. At the risk of sounding like some sort of ubergeek, I'm finding I love Python as a language in preference to my usual set of tools.
I'll be in need of a designer shortly, so if that's you then you can expect an email from me in the near future. There's lots of exciting things going on in the web applications arena, particularly with regard to moving the application overhead from the server to the client, so that's something I intend to capitalise on. Not just for business, but because if I'm not learning, then I'm not enjoying myself! And it's a refreshing return to the true client/server architecture of yore.
With the economy seemingly in freefall, I've noticed a jump in the amount of contract positions available - presumably as companies look to minimise the long-term overheads associated with employing people full-time. Which is surely a good thing for us all?
So, feel free to voice your opinions on the current state of the industry, and evangelise your latest work!

I've been doing some seriously fun stuff with rails and the ever-changing facebook APIs. I can't reveal much yet but hope to seriously plug it here when released!
